Homorazzi: Eric Mabius on cover of Boston Common

No, really… Eric Mabius is a sexy daddy- The Ugly Betty Actor and his wife recently welcome their second son to the world. Congratulations!!

Originally from Amherst, Massachusets, Eric is featured on the summer cover of Niche Marketing’s Boston Common magazine and looks hot, hot, HOT! The issue is on stands this week and here are a few highlights.

We all know Mabius as the sexy playboy magazine editor, Daniel Meade, on ABC’s Ugly Betty, who sports a great body, sexy looks and a fabulous collection of designer threads. But, he’s the first to admit that he didn’t really know much about fashion before landing the role: “I do understand 100 times more now [about fashion] than when I first started. For the show I have to try on, on average, five new suits a week, easily 20 new suits a month… What tends to work best is Dolce & Gabbana, because of the way the shoulders and waist are cut.” As if we didn’t have enough to be envious of already…

Eric also shares with Boston Common his views on the Ugly Betty cast as a whole and why, in addition to the fashion education, they make his job so enjoyable: “I’m an actor, obviously, and I find actors boring to a large extent—I can’t say the same for the people on my show, which is why I think we all get along. We’re bona fide, fairly complete people in our own right; we’re not ‘all form and no substance’ types.”

Moving from work to personal life, Eric also opens up about meeting his wife, Ivy and his two children. Eric & Ivy actually went to high school together, and although they flirted- they never actually dated. They did, however, go through sex education together in the ninth grade! Of the experience, he says, “We flirted a lot in high school, but we never dated. I moved there for the start of ninth grade, and one of the first classes I had was a science class, and that teacher doubled as our sex-ed teacher, so I literally used to have sex-ed with my future wife, which seems a little convenient, but it’s absolutely true.” Of his two children, Mabius admits, “Don’t let anyone fool you: Having two is more than twice as many as having one.”

The Amherst Regional High School alumn admits that the family is considering a return to Massachusetts:“We’re up there visiting my wife’s father all the time, and we’ve pretty much outgrown his home with the addition to our family…. We’re going to be going back there for the rest of our lives. Western Mass has such a strong pull for us; it’s just a unique part of the world. We just saw a house that’s on a lake where we used to swim in high school. It was really cool. “Regardless of where the Mabius family finds itself- I hope we find a lot more of Eric on screen! In addition to Ugly Betty- which airs Thursday evenings on ABC- Mabius also had a series of brief appearances on The O.C. as Dean Jack Hess as well as appearances on The L Word as Tim Haspel.
