Boston Herald: Timothy Hutton on cover of Boston Common

“Leverage” star Timothy Hutton reports that although he lived in Cambridge for only a few years as a young lad, he’s been a lifelong Boston sports fan.

“I was born in 1960, so you can imagine what it was like to be a little kid during the Celtics [team stats]’ run in the ’60s,” reports the actor, who was yelled at for wearing a Green Team jersey during the NBA playoffs in La-La last June. “That kind of solidified it for me.”

As for the “whole Red Sox [team stats] Nation thing,” Hutton tells the upcoming Boston Common maggie, it’s a “brilliant” concept.

“It made certain other teams in the same division not terribly happy because they wanted to lay claim to being the national team,” the Oscar-winning actor says.

Nice to have that kind of Leverage over the Yankees, huh, Tim?
“More and more you see Red Sox jerseys everywhere. It’s pretty incredible. I was a young kid in Boston, then I played Little League there. I went to many a game at Fenway, and there’s just something about the old-town team.”
